When we are able to truly feel our connection to nature, in all living things, the seasonal changes are profound. As we are stepping into fall, what does that feel like in your energy?
One of the most amazing effects of Reiki is how deeply you connect with the world around you and that connection grows deeper and deeper, the more you practice.
As we begin to see the leaves falling, it’s a reminder that it’s time for us to let go of the things that are no longer serving us. Things we might be holding onto and are too fearful to shed. And, when the trees begin to grow more and more bare and the leaves pile around us, there is no denying that it is time. The branches are exposed and where there once were lush green leaves, we now see emptiness and vulnerability. We accept this process, as we know this is the natural cycle of nature and that soon, there will be new growth and abundance and the lush, green leaves will return… perhaps even richer and more fully than the season before. We might even notice that the branches grew wider and the tree is taller. It’s coming. And, that knowing makes the nakedness of fall acceptable. Welcome that raw and vulnerable feeling in yourself.
What is it that you need to shed? What is it that is no longer working? Where do you long for new growth and abundance? Let the energy of the season allow you to tap into your courage to let your leaves fall. Just let them go. Let this be a time of sloughing off and preparing for the new growth. Let the wind take your fears away and let the roots of your confidence ground you in the knowledge that there is something better on the way.
Our energy needs to clear and shift and make room for abundance. Imagine you are the tree and your leaves are letting go to allow for brighter and better growth to develop. It’s there; it’s under the surface, getting ready to bloom. But, only when we can find the strength to surrender to the energy of the season, rooted in our trust. When we believe in our own inner light, we have faith in the knowing that we are limitless. And, when we can feel our connection to universal life force energy… we can acknowledge that this same energy that brings forth new abundance, season after season, is inside of us as well. The same energy that will bring back the green, lush leaves, is inside of us! It is powerful to think about. How can we not feel limitless and abundant?
A huge piece of my spiritual journey has been taking walks in nature and connecting with the world around me through the lens of Reiki. At first, I would search for connections… pick up an acorn and look at a large oak tree and marvel at how something so tiny could become something so strong and tall. I would watch how the clouds move in the sky and how the sun casts shadows through the park. All of this movement is all Reiki energy. And, it really started to align and make sense and strengthen my connection to Reiki and my understanding of everything I had studied and learned. Even a five-minute walk in nature can connect you in ways that can heighten your Reiki learning and align you with your soul. It’s not about how long you spend in nature; it’s more about how aware you are when you do.
When we really “get it” that we come from this same beautiful source energy and that it is present inside of us at all times… we begin to develop an awareness of our infinite nature.
When my father was in the hospital a month before he passed, he was telling me about a nature program he saw on TV. He said there was a study done where squirrels had been tagged and tracked as they hid their nuts in various places and then were able to find them again, months later, in the same exact places. The same squirrels… the same nuts… they instinctually knew exactly which spots to go back to. He said, “It was amazing. These little creatures… so smart… it really is a miracle, you know? It makes you really believe that there are miracles.” “Yes, and you are a miracle too Dad,” I said. And, he shrugged, nodded and smiled.
I think it is such a gift to have a profound connection to your own energy and the energy of every living creature and to know that you are part of it all. You are connected to the earth in such a beautiful way and your energy is infinite.
So, as the leaves are falling at your feet and the branches are bare and the squirrels are busy hiding their nuts for the winter… think of what it is you’d like to shed this season. Think of what it is that you can change for the better. Season after season brings more opportunities for growth and development. Find the courage. Let it go. Don’t wait any longer. Be bold and bring it on bigger and better than before. Take your cue from the trees and find the courage to expose yourself. Stand tall and be vulnerable. YOU are a miracle!
Happy fall!
